The Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Local Tax Administration Comprehensive Evaluation is a system that comprehensively assesses local tax administration across 20 items in 5 areas, including local tax and non-tax revenue imposition and collection performance, as well as local tax audits.

Yeongwol County has worked to secure stable local tax revenue by maintaining accurate taxation data and actively collecting overdue payments. As a result, starting with the grand prize in 2020, the county has been selected as an award-winning institution in the comprehensive evaluation of local tax administration for six consecutive years through 2025.

In particular, Yeongwol County has continuously developed and implemented various taxpayer convenience initiatives tailored to residents, such as introducing a mobile on-site collection app, producing easy-to-read local tax bills, providing KakaoTalk notification services, creating the "Life Four-Cut" local tax comic, and using overdue payment notification stickers. These efforts have simultaneously secured independent financial resources and improved taxpayer satisfaction.

Following its achievements in local tax administration, Yeongwol County was also selected as an outstanding local government in the "2025 Local Non-Tax Revenue Operation Performance Analysis and Evaluation" organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, earning incentives in the allocation of general grants. This evaluation classifies 243 local governments nationwide by type and comprehensively assesses both quantitative indicators, such as non-tax revenue collection rates, and best practices.

Meanwhile, Yeongwol County received an excellence award at the 2025 Local Non-Tax Revenue Increase Best Practice Presentation, which was themed "A Customized Collection Model for the Aging Era." The county's non-tax revenue administration policies, focused on convenience for civil petitioners, received high praise.

Additionally, Yeongwol County achieved remarkable results in the management of public property. The public property management analysis and evaluation system conducts a comprehensive survey of public property held by local governments nationwide and systematically analyzes and diagnoses the status of management and utilization to promote increased fiscal revenue and efficient property management.

As of June 2025, Yeongwol County received high marks in overall survey maintenance performance and management indicators, earning the title of "Best Local Government in Public Property Management Analysis and Evaluation." As a result, the county secured a special grant of 40 million won. The funds secured through this achievement will be reinvested in various policies and regional development projects directly related to residents' lives. In addition, the county received a governor’s institutional commendation for its contributions to the 2025 public property status survey and efforts to resolve unauthorized occupancy.

Han Eunsuk, Head of the Tax Accounting Division, stated, "The consecutive positive evaluations in local tax and non-tax revenue administration are the result of our comprehensive efforts to shift tax administration from a collection-centered approach to a resident-centered service administration." She added, "Going forward, we will continue to prioritize convenience for civil petitioners in all areas of local tax and non-tax revenue, strengthen digital-based administration and field-oriented communication, and realize a tax administration that is easy to use and trustworthy for everyone."
