Samsung Display Showcases OLED Solutions for the AI Era

Presenting the Infinite Expansion Vision of OLED in the AI Era

Samsung Display is introducing its organic light-emitting diode (OLED) solutions for the era of artificial intelligence (AI).

On January 4, Samsung Display announced that it will hold an exclusive exhibition for its clients at CES 2026, the world’s largest consumer electronics and information technology (IT) trade show, which will take place in Las Vegas, United States, from January 6 to 9 (local time). Under the theme "A New Era of Experiences Created by AI and Display," the company plans to showcase a variety of OLED concept products, including the "AI OLED Bot," which can serve as a platform for communication between humans and AI.

Samsung’s OLED technology, which is applied to various IT devices such as tablets, laptops, and monitors, will present a vision for the synergy that can be created with AI in daily life. Leveraging the high design flexibility of OLEDs-specifically, their free-form characteristics-the company will also introduce new solutions that enhance the premium feel of vehicle interiors.

At the "AI Edge Vision Station," the company will showcase a lifestyle with OLED-equipped AI devices through various concepts of "edge devices." The "AI OLED Bot," equipped with a 13.4-inch OLED display positioned at face level, is a small robot concept that can move freely within a designated space and interact with users based on AI. At this exhibition, it will demonstrate roles such as a robotic assistant in a university, guiding students to lecture rooms or providing information such as professor profiles.

The company also plans to unveil several speaker concept products that can serve as AI-based assistants, such as recommending music. These speaker-type demo products do not require connection to separate devices; users can receive or select music recommendations directly on the built-in display, and the concept also includes the ability to enhance interior design with images and videos.

Samsung Display will also demonstrate how OLED can enhance the utility of AI through scenario experiences tailored to different usage environments, such as offices, business trips, and homes. In an exhibition space designed as an architectural office, visitors can observe the advantage of OLED in displaying various design blueprints, material samples, and colors with optimal clarity and without distortion. For business trips, the ultra-thin OLED, which is 30% thinner and 30% lighter than conventional products using two glass substrates, offers the optimal solution for AI laptops. At home, the company proposes scenarios where monitors and TVs serve as AI hubs. For example, a QD-OLED monitor with low-power technology can function as a wall clock or picture frame in everyday use, and in specific situations, it can display the user's health information or provide schedule briefings.

A Samsung Display representative stated, "Samsung OLED and QD-OLED are being widely adopted not only by professionals but also for general office and home use, making them technologies optimized for the AI era." The representative added, "Last year, the number of tablet, laptop, and monitor products launched with Samsung Display panels exceeded 300, more than tripling compared to three years ago."

In addition, the newly designed "Digital Cockpit" demo product offers a glimpse into the future of autonomous vehicles equipped with advanced displays in various designs and form factors. The "Flexible L," which connects seamlessly between the driver's and passenger's seats and the front dashboard, has increased in size from 14.4 inches in the previous exhibition to 18.1 inches. The 13.8-inch display for the passenger seat can be concealed beneath the dashboard when only the driver is present, expanding the vehicle’s space and enhancing interior aesthetics.

Samsung Display has also prepared various attractions to highlight the durability of OLED. One demonstration involves attaching 18 foldable panels to a basketball backboard and using a robotic arm to continuously shoot basketballs at the hoop, testing the impact resistance of the foldable panels. Another exhibit compares the durability of products by dropping a steel ball onto the foldable panel from a height of 30 cm. For automotive displays, which require high reliability, the products are showcased inside a refrigerator to demonstrate stable operation even in extreme environments.
