Four-Night, Seven-Day Visit to Three U.S. Cities from January 4 to 10
Cooperation with Arctic Logistics Hubs and Expansion of Advanced Industries
Park Hyungjoon, the Mayor of Busan, will embark on an official visit to the United States to promote cooperation on the Arctic shipping route and global technology exchange.
The Busan Metropolitan Government announced that Mayor Park will visit three U.S. cities-Anchorage, Nome, and Las Vegas-from January 4 to January 10, for a total of seven days and four nights.
From January 5 to 6 local time, Mayor Park will visit Anchorage and Nome in Alaska to strengthen cooperation networks with key cities in the North American Arctic region. On the morning of January 5, a signing ceremony for a friendship and cooperation city agreement between Busan and Anchorage will be held at Anchorage City Hall. The two cities plan to expand cooperation in the fields of port and logistics, tourism, energy resources, and human exchanges.
On the same day, Mayor Park will pay a courtesy visit to the Governor of Alaska to discuss the potential for economic and industrial cooperation between Busan and Alaska. To explore ways to collaborate on logistics linked to the Arctic shipping route, he will also visit the Port of Anchorage to review its operations and logistics infrastructure.
On January 6, Mayor Park will visit Nome, a key stopover on the Arctic shipping route, to meet with the Mayor of Nome and members of the Port Commission to discuss ways to expand exchanges among Arctic cities and secure strategic hubs along the route. He will then visit the planned site for the deep-sea port development near the Bering Strait to examine port operations and development trends, and to explore Busan’s potential role in revitalizing the Arctic shipping route.
Starting January 7, Mayor Park will move to Las Vegas to attend CES 2026, the world’s largest consumer electronics and information technology exhibition. He will visit the Busan Pavilion to encourage participating companies, assess the business activities between global buyers and investors, and directly review opportunities for Busan companies to expand overseas.
He will also meet with the Vice President of the Consumer Technology Association to discuss continued participation by Busan companies in CES and explore further exhibition collaboration. At this year’s CES, Busan companies received a total of 13 Innovation Awards, including two Best of Innovation Awards.
Mayor Park will also visit Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders, an NFL team. He will review the operation of this advanced, integrated sports and entertainment facility and discuss with the team president strategies for sports club management, infrastructure development, and expanding the tourism and cultural industries by leveraging sports content.
Mayor Park stated, "By cooperating with Arctic logistics hubs and focusing on global technology exchange through CES, Busan will have the opportunity to leap forward as a global hub city. We will continue to foster future strategic industries and strengthen the city brand to make Busan a city that attracts global attention."
