Chairman Lim Jongryong of Woori Financial Group Invites Firefighter Families, Vows to Remain a Strong Pillar

On January 4, Woori Financial Future Foundation announced that it had hosted a luncheon event, inviting the families of fallen firefighters and eight active-duty injured firefighters.

The event, held on January 2 at the headquarters of Woori Financial Group in Jung-gu, Seoul, was organized to directly listen to the voices of those involved in the “Woori Hero Support Program” operated by the foundation.

The “Woori Hero Support Program” is a social contribution initiative that provides living expenses, medical expenses, and educational support for the children of military, police, and firefighting officers who are facing difficulties due to death in the line of duty or injuries sustained while on duty. Since its launch in 2022, the program has supported around 1,700 fallen or injured public officials and their families as of last year.

Chairman Lim Jongryong, who led the event, expressed his respect for the injured firefighters who have returned to duty despite severe injuries and offered his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the line of duty. He also personally delivered a premium Korean beef gift set to convey his gratitude.

Chairman Lim emphasized, “It is very meaningful to start the new year together with the true heroes of our time,” adding, “Woori Financial Group will continue to serve as a strong pillar, with the heart of a family, so that our heroes who have sacrificed themselves for the lives and safety of the people are respected by society.”

Meanwhile, Woori Financial Future Foundation was recognized for its contributions to supporting firefighters and received a commendation from the Commissioner of the National Fire Agency last year. The foundation also plans to actively promote the “Woori Hero Remembrance Campaign” to help foster a culture of social respect.
