Sokcho City in Gangwon Province will hold the "Opening 2026 with Movies! Movie Music Concert" at 7:30 p.m. on January 30, 2026, at the Grand Performance Hall of the Sokcho Culture & Arts Center to celebrate the New Year.
This concert is hosted by Sokcho City and organized by the Grand Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance will run for a total of 100 minutes, including a 15-minute intermission, and will feature live orchestral renditions of beloved movie soundtracks to deliver excitement and inspiration for the New Year.
Fifty members of the Grand Philharmonic Orchestra will take the stage, performing major original soundtracks from classic films with grand and delicate sound. The Grand Philharmonic Orchestra is a professional ensemble based in Seoul, known for presenting a diverse repertoire, and will vividly convey the unique scenes and emotions of film music in this concert as well.
The event will be hosted by Son Ji-hye, who will introduce the program and provide commentary on each piece, helping the audience easily understand the context of the movie music and become immersed in the performance.
To enhance the quality of the stage, tenor Ahn Se-kwon, singer Lee Ye-jun, and guitarist Lee Byung-woo will also collaborate in the performance.
All seats are priced at 10,000 won, and tickets can be reserved through the Sokcho Culture & Arts Center's online ticketing system starting at 10:00 a.m. on January 6. Each person may purchase up to four tickets, and the concert is open to elementary school students and older.
Lee Byeong-seon, Mayor of Sokcho, stated, "I hope this movie music concert will provide citizens with an opportunity to start the New Year meaningfully through culture and the arts," adding, "We will continue to expand opportunities for citizens to enjoy culture through a variety of performance content."
