A New Start for Hwasun County Government
Preparing for the Next 100 Years of the 8th Popularly Elected Administration

On January 2, Hwasun County, South Jeolla Province, announced that it held a New Year's kick-off ceremony in the main conference room of the Hwasun County Office and officially began its work for 2026.
At the ceremony, County Governor Goo Bokgyu exchanged New Year's greetings with staff and stated, "The year 2026 will be an important year to prepare for a new leap forward and a hopeful 100-year future for Hwasun, based on the achievements made during the 8th popularly elected administration."
He continued, "With the arrival of the Year of the Byeongo, we will work together with the residents of Hwasun to pursue even stronger and bolder administration, always prioritizing the lives of our citizens."
Governor Goo also emphasized, "Over the past three and a half years, Hwasun has steadfastly carried out major reforms to improve its structure in all areas, including population, tourism, and agriculture. Going forward, all public officials must remain true to their original intentions and continue to work diligently for a 'new Hwasun where residents are happy.'"
Meanwhile, prior to the ceremony, Governor Goo Bokgyu paid respects at the Memorial Tower in Namsan Park, the memorial stone for Yang Hanmuk, and the police cemetery in Hwasun-eup, accompanied by National Assembly Public Administration and Security Committee Chairman Shin Jeonghun, Hwasun County Council Chairman Oh Hyungyeol, as well as provincial and county council members.
