Gangwon Office of Education Holds 2026 Opening Ceremony... Launches Field-Oriented Gangwon Education in Earnest

The Gangwon Provincial Office of Education began its new year’s work by holding a New Year’s sunrise event at Myeongbong Peak of Daeryongsan Mountain in Chuncheon on January 1, and the 2026 opening ceremony at the main auditorium of its headquarters on January 2.

The New Year’s sunrise event was attended by the Gangwon Provincial Superintendent of Education and staff members, who climbed to Myeongbong Peak of Daeryongsan Mountain to exchange New Year’s greetings, reaffirm their commitment for the year ahead, and pray for the advancement of education in Gangwon and the well-being of the educational community.

The opening ceremony began with the national pledge and included a moment of silence for fallen patriots, national heroes, and teachers who died in the line of duty. The Gangwon Children’s Choir delivered a hopeful New Year’s message through their performance. The event continued with introductions of newly transferred staff members, fostering communication and unity within the organization.

In addition, awards were presented to outstanding and exemplary public officials, and a promotional video on Gangwon education policies was screened. The New Year’s address shared the main educational policy directions and key focus areas for 2026.

A representative of the Gangwon Provincial Office of Education stated, “We will actively pursue field-oriented educational administration to ensure a better life for local residents through education,” and added, “Based on communication and cooperation, we will lead the sustainable development of education in Gangwon.”
