Kim Min Tae of People Power Party: "KOTRA Should Relocate to Asan, the Economic Capital"

Second Phase of Public Institution Relocation in Focus
"Asan's Economy and Jobs Take Center Stage"

Kim Min Tae of People Power Party: "KOTRA Should Relocate to Asan, the Economic Capital" Min Tae Kim, Deputy Spokesperson of the People Power Party

Kim Min Tae, Deputy Spokesperson of the People Power Party and a potential candidate for Asan Mayor in the local elections scheduled for June 3, argued that the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) should be relocated to Asan in connection with the Yoon Suk Yeol administration's second phase of public institution relocations, which is being discussed as a national policy task.

On January 2, Deputy Spokesperson Kim stated in a press release, "KOTRA's role is to help our companies earn revenue overseas," adding, "Achievements are not made at the desk, but by working on the ground, alongside factories, research centers, and partner companies."

He particularly emphasized, "Asan is an industrial city responsible for nearly 10% of the nation's exports and serves as a transportation hub connecting the Seoul metropolitan area and Chungcheong Province," adding, "It is the most efficient location for companies across the country to access."

Deputy Spokesperson Kim also said, "In Asan, companies specializing in components, materials, and equipment are closely connected around Samsung Display, Samsung Electronics, and Hyundai Motor Company," describing it as "the heart of an industry where manufacturing and exports take place simultaneously."

He further stated, "If KOTRA is based in Asan, local companies new to exporting will find their way more quickly, and promising companies will be able to shorten the time needed to secure contracts with buyers. Investment attraction will also accelerate with a field-oriented approach."

He added, "As exports and investments increase, pathways to global jobs will open up for young people."

Deputy Spokesperson Kim stressed, "This is not just a benefit for Asan, but for the entire Korean economy," emphasizing, "The relocation of public institutions should be judged by its effectiveness, not just as a symbolic gesture."
