Guri City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Paik Kyung-hyun) announced on January 2 that a New Year's memorial ceremony was held at the Hyeonchung Tower located in Linchang Central Park.

The New Year's memorial ceremony was attended by Paik Kyung-hyun, Mayor of Guri City, Shin Dong-hwa, Chairman of the Guri City Council, city council members, Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly members, Im Byung-moo, Chairman of the Veterans and Reserve Forces Association, Jeon Pyeong-jin, Chairman of the Bereaved Families of the Fallen Soldiers Association, as well as around 100 leaders and members of veterans and reserve forces organizations. In a solemn and reverent atmosphere, participants offered floral tributes and incense.

The attendees honored the noble sacrifices of the patriotic martyrs and fallen heroes who dedicated their lives to the nation, pledging to carry their noble spirit in their hearts and to embark on the new year of Byeong-o with renewed determination and a sense of responsibility.

After the memorial, Mayor Paik Kyung-hyun stated, "The sacrifices of our patriotic martyrs and fallen heroes are the firm foundation upon which today's Republic of Korea and Guri City stand. We will deeply uphold their noble intentions, further support the stability of our citizens' lives, and pursue a trustworthy city administration."

Meanwhile, Guri City plans to continue its efforts to operate a city administration that respects the value of honoring veterans and works together with citizens, starting with this New Year's memorial ceremony.
