Declaration of the “Year of Integrity Practice”
Yeosu City in South Jeolla Province announced that it has selected “integrity initiatives” as its first work of 2026. By having the head of the institution sign a pledge to practice integrity, the city declared its commitment to operating a transparent municipal administration and proclaimed 2026 as the “Year of Integrity Practice.”
This pledge to practice integrity goes beyond a mere formal declaration. It is a measure to clearly demonstrate the responsibility and determination to prioritize the value of integrity throughout the entire operation of the institution. Its significance is heightened by the fact that it was carried out as the first official work of the new year.

On January 2, the mayor of Yeosu signed the integrity pledge in the mayor’s office, promising to carry out duties fairly in accordance with laws and principles, to prevent unlawful or unjust work orders in advance, to thoroughly eliminate any undue benefits related to official duties, to realize transparent and accountable administration, and to implement municipal policies that meet citizens’ expectations.
Starting with this integrity pledge by the head of the institution, Yeosu City plans to gradually implement practical measures to improve integrity, including strengthening public service inspections, expanding integrity education, increasing participation in integrity initiatives, intensively improving areas vulnerable to corruption, and expanding citizen-centered integrity policies.
A city official stated, “Integrity is the starting point of administration and the foundation of citizens’ trust. As we have promoted integrity initiatives as our first work of 2026, we will do our utmost to ensure that these efforts lead to tangible changes that citizens can truly feel, rather than remaining a formality.”
Yeosu City will continue to strive for a fair and trustworthy municipal administration through responsible integrity practices led by the head of the institution and through integrity policies that encourage participation from all employees.
