The Northern Gyeonggi Province 119 Special Response Team announced on January 2 that Kwon Sunwook, former Chief of the Yangju Fire Station, was appointed as the new Head of the Northern Gyeonggi Province 119 Special Response Team as of January 1.

Newly appointed Head Kwon Sunwook was commissioned in 2001 as a member of the 11th class of fire officer candidates. He has worked at the National Intelligence Service Counter-Terrorism Situation Room, the Central Fire Service Academy, and the National Fire Agency 119 General Situation Room. He has also served as Head of the Gangwon Fire Academy, Head of Rescue and Emergency at the Daejeon Fire Headquarters, Head of the Metropolitan Area 119 Special Rescue Team at the National 119 Rescue Headquarters, Head of Prevention at the Northern Gyeonggi Province Fire and Disaster Headquarters, and Chief of the Yangju Fire Station, before being appointed as the Head of the Northern Gyeonggi Province 119 Special Response Team.


Kwon Sunwook is highly respected within the firefighting organization for his outstanding work execution and gentle leadership, based on his diverse practical experience.


Kwon Sunwook stated, "I will do my utmost to further strengthen the organizational capacity and expertise of the Northern Gyeonggi Province 119 Special Response Team, fulfilling the heavy responsibility and mission of protecting the lives and property of the residents."
