Europe's Largest HVAC Company Acquired by Samsung
CEO Dorney: "Combining with Samsung's Technology Leadership"
Expanding R&D Collaboration and Advancing Technology

Samsung Electronics acquired Flact Group, the largest HVAC company in Europe, last year to make a full-scale entry into the rapidly growing global HVAC market. David Dorney, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Flact Group, stated, "By combining Flact Group's expertise in HVAC with Samsung Electronics' comprehensive technology leadership, we expect to create smarter and more connected solutions."

On January 2, CEO Dorney told the Samsung Electronics Newsroom, "By integrating Flact Group's HVAC systems with Samsung's SmartThings Pro and building integration solution (b.IoT), we can expand into more advanced energy management and smart building solutions." He also explained that Samsung Electronics' strong artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities can be leveraged to optimize product performance and energy efficiency.

He further expressed expectations that research and development (R&D) collaboration and supply chain integration between the two companies would expand the new product roadmap, accelerate time-to-market, and create new growth opportunities.

He explained, "Flact Group has built competitiveness in commercial and industrial ventilation systems, as well as in cleanroom, marine, and fire safety sectors, and possesses over 60 years of experience and technological expertise in data center cooling."

Regarding the global HVAC market, he identified the strengthening of energy efficiency regulations, urbanization, the increasing adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, and growing interest in indoor air quality as key growth drivers. He also forecasted that the market's mid- to long-term growth would continue through 2035, driven by expanding demand for heat pumps and advancements in liquid cooling technology.

Flact Group has recently achieved results in major industries such as data centers, steel, defense, and aerospace. The company supplied integrated HVAC solutions to a carbon-neutral steel plant in Sweden and is currently undertaking defense and marine projects in India and the United States. This year, in the United States, Flact Group and Samsung Electronics jointly supplied Flact Group's HVAC solution, 'Air Solution,' together with Samsung's modular chiller to aerospace clients, achieving collaborative success.

He announced plans to further strengthen collaboration with Samsung in the future. As part of its investment strategy, the company will focus on advancing chilled distribution unit (CDU) technology and the smart control platform 'FlactEdge.' He also plans to increase R&D investment to accelerate development and supply, and to enhance support for partner projects.

The new production line to be established in Korea this year will serve as a 'standard model for future factories' and be used as a base for targeting the Asian market. In addition, the company is expanding investment in production and field services in India and the United States, where data center demand is rapidly increasing.

CEO Dorney emphasized, "Our clear vision is to continue growing with Samsung Electronics beyond 2026 and become a global leader in the HVAC sector," adding, "We are committed to innovation, quality, and sustainability as our company goals." He also expressed his ambition that, in ten years, together with Samsung, the company will emerge as a global leader in the HVAC sector, representing sustainability, smart technology, and energy efficiency.

To this end, he added that the company plans to expand the application of Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) to 95% of Flact Group's products within this year.
