The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation announced on January 2 that it will launch two new types of currency-themed merchandise, the "Goblin Club Donkiring."
The Goblin Club Donkiring is a piece of merchandise crafted from by-products generated during currency production. Each Donkiring contains 1 gram each of by-products from 10,000-won and 50,000-won banknotes.
Since March of last year, the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation has been introducing a series of currency-themed goods utilizing currency by-products. Previously released items, such as the Money Ballpoint Pen, Money Cushion, and Money Wallet, gained popularity for symbolizing "wealth and good fortune."
The newly released Donkiring is the second keyring product, following the "Lucky Donkiring." It differentiates itself from previous products by being a premium, handmade item.
The front of the Donkiring is finished with epoxy resin, vividly showcasing the unique, rich colors and intricate details of the currency. The surface is smooth and has a transparent, glossy finish.
The back and edges are finished with metal, enhancing the overall quality. The back is engraved with the logo of the currency-themed merchandise brand "moneymade."
The goblin club, which inspired the Donkiring, has long been regarded as a symbol that brings good fortune, wealth, and the fulfillment of wishes. The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation chose the goblin club motif to add a familiar and playful image-embodied in the phrase "Let the money appear, abracadabra"-to the keyring.
The Donkiring is available both individually and as a set, and can only be purchased through the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation's online store.
President Sung Changhoon stated, "The currency-themed merchandise business is a meaningful project that creates new value from by-products generated during currency manufacturing. Going forward, the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation will continue to set an example in realizing a circular economy and social value by utilizing currency by-products."
