Applications Accepted Until January 15
Geumseong Publishing announced on January 2 that it is accepting applications for the "2026 First Half Chinese Character Proficiency Test," organized by the Chinese Character Education Promotion Association, until January 15 in celebration of the winter vacation.
The "2026 First Half Chinese Character Proficiency Test" is a nationwide Chinese character assessment organized by the Chinese Character Education Promotion Association, which has been officially authorized as a qualification management and operation institution since 1990, and administered by the Korea Institute of Chinese Character Proficiency Assessment. Geumseong Publishing is handling the application process.

Anyone from preschoolers to middle school students is eligible to apply, and for the officially certified Level 3, instructors may also take the test. The test levels range from Level 3 to Level 8, and applicants can choose the level that best matches their proficiency.
The test will be held on March 7 at 11:00 a.m. at designated locations in each city and province across the country, and will last for 60 minutes. The results will be announced on April 7 on the websites of Geumseong Publishing, Purunet Study Room, and the Chinese Character Education Promotion Association. The passing score for each level is 70 points or higher, and outstanding performers will receive Excellence and Outstanding Achievement Awards from the Chinese Character Education Promotion Association.
A representative from Geumseong Publishing stated, "Learning Chinese characters, which make up 90% of school textbooks, is highly beneficial for improving literacy and vocabulary. We hope many will take this opportunity during the winter vacation to enhance their academic abilities and obtain a nationally certified Chinese character proficiency certificate."
