Startup Community "Strongly Supports President's Vision for a Startup-Centered Society"

"Support for the Vision of a Startup and Venture Boom Era"

The startup community has expressed strong support for President Lee Jaemyung's New Year's address for the Year of Byeong-o.

On January 2, the Korea Startup Forum issued a statement, saying, "We actively welcome and support President Lee Jaemyung's vision for a 'startup and venture boom era' and a 'major transition to a startup-centered society,' as outlined in his New Year's address."

The forum stated, "The government's declared shift from 'growth centered on a few large corporations' to 'growth for all,' where opportunities and rewards are shared more broadly, is a timely and bold decision for the sustainable future of the Korean economy. In particular, the clear designation of startups as the main drivers of innovation and the commitment to creating an environment where they can freely take on challenges will be a great source of strength for our startup ecosystem."

The statement continued, "We fully agree with and support the remarks about shifting the social focus from 'employment' to 'entrepreneurship' and about building a safety net where failure becomes an asset, thereby providing young entrepreneurs with the opportunity to take bold risks."

The forum added, "We hope to see a structure take root in which the value of innovation created by startups is properly recognized and the results benefit both companies and the lives of all citizens. The Korea Startup Forum will do its utmost, working closely with the government, to strengthen Korea's global competitiveness and achieve a major leap forward toward becoming a world-leading nation."
