Eight New Transfer Hubs Established
Fleet Expanded to 12 Buses, Intervals Reduced to 30 Minutes
Jung-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Gilseong), will officially launch the integrated public shuttle service, "Naepyeon Jung-gu Bus," starting January 2.
According to Jung-gu, the district has reflected residents' feedback collected during a four-month pilot operation that began in September last year. As a result, eight routes and eight transfer hubs now connect the entire district. In addition, the district has significantly improved user convenience by introducing new vehicles, increasing the number of buses, adjusting intervals between buses, and launching a dedicated card exclusively for Jung-gu residents.
During the pilot period, the "Naepyeon Jung-gu Bus" received a positive response, with more than 1,300 daily users on average. The district has optimized the routes by eliminating overlapping sections among the previous nine routes and reorganizing them into eight. Routes 1, 2, and 3 operate as the "Sindang Area Circulation," routes 4, 5, and 6 connect "Sindang Area-Jung-gu Office-Western Area," and routes 7 and 8 serve as the "Western Area Circulation." To enhance accessibility for residents, 119 bus stops have been installed.
A new transfer system has also been introduced. Eight locations-Chungmu Art Center, Sindang Nuri Center, Gaon Library, Jung-gu Youth Center, Jung-gu Office, Sogong-dong Community Center, Exit 6 of Hoehyeon Station, and Seoul Station West-have been designated as transfer hubs to strengthen inter-route connections.
Vehicle operation conditions have also been greatly improved. The number of 25-seater buses has increased from 9 to 12, and two buses each have been allocated to routes 1, 2, 3, and 7, where demand is high, reducing the interval between buses from 60 minutes to 30 minutes. All old vehicles have been replaced with new ones, and voice announcements and monitors will be sequentially installed in the new buses.
A "Jung-gu Residents-Only Bus Card" has also been newly introduced. While "Naepyeon Jung-gu Bus" can be used by obtaining a boarding pass through the dedicated app, the new card was created to alleviate inconvenience for residents such as seniors and people with disabilities who may have difficulty using smartphones. The card can be applied for and received at local community centers by presenting an ID.
The bus operates from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. There is no service on Sundays and public holidays. Anyone using Jung-gu public facilities can ride for free, and current bus operations and routes can be checked through the "Naepyeon Jung-gu Bus App."
Kim Gilseong, Mayor of Jung-gu, stated, "We thoroughly reflected residents' feedback received during the pilot operation of Naepyeon Jung-gu Bus," and added, "We will continue to identify and address inconveniences from the residents' perspective, further developing Naepyeon Jung-gu Bus into a more convenient and reliable service."
