Jo Wonhui, Chairman of Daejeon City Council, stated in his 2026 New Year's address, "The 9th Council, under the slogan 'Best One, First One,' achieved the greatest results in its history by enacting 16 ordinances for the first time in the nation and establishing an Innovation Advisory Committee, thereby driving changes in the role of the council."

Chairman Jo emphasized, "In 2026, Daejeon City Council will uphold the spirit of 'Minuijunghaeng,' meaning we will earnestly respect the will of the citizens and put it into practice through concrete actions and policies."

He added, "The administrative integration of Daejeon and Chungnam has entered the stage of national review, and the City Council has formed a Special Committee on Administrative Integration to focus on the passage of a special law and public discussion."

He continued, "Through the Special Committee on Livelihood Economy, we have supported small business owners and vulnerable groups while ensuring transparent legislative activities."

Additionally, he noted, "Last year, Daejeon reversed a twelve-year population decline and began to see growth, and the city received top evaluations in both urban brand reputation and resident satisfaction. Long-awaited projects such as the completion of the Yuseong Complex Terminal and the groundbreaking of Urban Rail Line 2 (Tram) have come to fruition. As 2026 marks a turning point with the conclusion of the 9th Council's term, we will strive for unwavering completion and repay the citizens' trust."
