Jang Dong-hyuk, Representative, and other leaders of the People Power Party are reportedly not attending the New Year's reception hosted by President Lee Jae-myung, scheduled for January 2, 2026.
Instead, the party leadership plans to attend a New Year's event in the Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province region on the same day. This decision by the People Power Party leadership appears to take into account the recent passage and approval at the Cabinet meeting of the bill to establish a special court for insurrection cases, which was led by the Democratic Party of Korea.
However, Joo Ho-young, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and a member of the People Power Party, has reportedly expressed his intention to attend the New Year's reception hosted by President Lee.
