Hana Bank announced on January 1 that, to mark the start of the new year 2026 (the Year of the Fire Horse), it visited the Dora Observatory located at the 1st Army Division in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, to witness the first sunrise of the year and encourage the soldiers dedicated to national security.

This event was organized as Hana Bank takes on the new role of operator for the Nara Sarang Card from 2026, aiming to express gratitude to the soldiers who protect the Republic of Korea, and to publicly demonstrate the bank’s genuine commitment to supporting the armed forces.

On this day, more than 100 employees from the headquarters, including CEO Lee Hoseong, attended the event, joined by officials from the 1st Army Division to watch the first sunrise of the year together. United in purpose, they reaffirmed their strong commitment to the successful operation of the Nara Sarang Card project and to providing differentiated financial services for the soldiers.

Additionally, at the 1st Army Division’s mess hall, Hana Bank representatives shared a New Year’s rice cake soup breakfast with military officials, wishing all service members a peaceful and healthy year ahead, and delivered a donation to support the development of the unit.

Notably, this New Year’s event for military units was carried out nationwide. Hana Bank’s regional business headquarters visited a total of nine military units under their respective jurisdictions, including those in Gyeonggi, Chungcheong, Yeongnam, and Honam, as well as the 1st Division, to exchange New Year’s greetings with military officials and pledge to support the welfare and growth of soldiers through financial services.

Lee Hoseong, CEO of Hana Bank, who witnessed the first sunrise at the front line, stated, “With the ‘Hana Nara Sarang Card,’ which brings together the full capabilities of our organization, we will provide value and benefits that go beyond finance to those who serve the nation. As a partner that grows together with the military, Hana Bank will spare no effort or support to become a trusted lifelong financial partner.”

He added, “In 2026, with the passion and strength symbolized by the Year of the Red Horse, Hana Bank will accelerate the transition to productive finance for revitalizing the national economy, take the lead in expanding inclusive finance for the happiness of all members of society, and proactively strengthen consumer protection with a focus on prevention.”

Hana Bank plans to take concrete steps this year to establish itself as the trusted lifelong financial partner of the Republic of Korea’s armed forces by continuously developing and launching military-tailored financial products for the successful rollout of the ‘Hana Nara Sarang Card’ project, and by expanding various collaborative programs to enhance the welfare of service members.
