Fruits of Perseverance: Three Wando Fisheries High School Graduates Pass Korea Coast Guard Exam

Balanced Success in Both Open and Career-Based Recruitment
Graduates Accepted as Deck, Engineering, and Navigation Officers

Wando Fisheries High School announced on January 1 that graduates Kim Jaehong (Meister 4th class, graduated in 2021), Kim Dohyun, and Jung Sieun (Meister 9th class, graduating in 2025) have successfully passed the final round of the Korea Coast Guard recruitment exam.


According to the school, Kim Jaehong was accepted as a deck crew member through the open recruitment for general police officers, while Kim Dohyun and Jung Sieun were accepted as engineering and navigation officers, respectively, through the career-based recruitment program for graduates of maritime and fisheries high schools.

This achievement is considered a testament to the excellence of local talent nurtured by Wando Fisheries High School, as it was accomplished despite fierce competition.


The three successful candidates are known for their diligent study habits during their school years, having developed both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.


Kim Jaehong shared, "I challenged the Korea Coast Guard recruitment exam several times but failed to pass each time. I am deeply grateful to have achieved this meaningful result thanks to my perseverance and consistent preparation."


Kim Dohyun said, "After narrowly missing out last year, I dedicated myself day and night for a year after graduation, and my efforts finally paid off." Jung Sieun added, "Preparing while living away from home was not easy, but whenever I wanted to give up, the advice and encouragement from my teachers gave me great strength."


Principal Lee Hyunjin stated, "This achievement is the valuable result of the graduates' relentless effort and spirit of challenge. We will widely share their success stories to inspire current students in their career paths and continue to establish our school as an institution that fosters fisheries and maritime talent in collaboration with the local community."
