Jeollanam-do announced on January 1 that the amount raised through the Hometown Love Donation Program in 2025 reached 23.97 billion won, achieving the top spot nationwide for the third consecutive year.
Jeollanam-do raised 14.3 billion won in the first year of the program's implementation in 2023, 18.75 billion won in 2024, and 23.97 billion won in 2025, becoming the first region in the country to surpass a cumulative fundraising total of 57 billion won.
This achievement is attributed to a combination of factors, including the establishment of the nation's first and only dedicated organization, the creation of an organic collaboration system between the provincial government and 22 cities and counties, multifaceted promotional strategies, the discovery of outstanding return gifts, and the operation of fund projects that donors can tangibly experience.
To enhance donor satisfaction and expand participation, Jeollanam-do has implemented effective fund projects, continued to discover return gifts that reflect local characteristics, and carried out both online and offline promotional activities.
Collaborative projects between the province and local governments, such as the "Community Laundry Operation Project," the "Gift a Pediatric Clinic!" initiative in Gokseong-gun, and the "Wando BC Youth Baseball Team Support" in Wando-gun, have been recognized as exemplary cases in various competitions for their contributions to improving residents' lives and welfare.
These accomplishments have led to the experience that donations are genuinely used for the local community, resulting in both repeat donations and the influx of new donors.
Jeollanam-do natives living across the country and abroad, as well as the Jeonnam Love Supporters, have also contributed to expanding participation through SNS and various media channels, and have helped establish a culture of giving through active participation at major events and campaign sites.
Provincial and municipal officials have consistently raised donor interest and participation by promoting the value and significance of donations at local festivals, alumni gatherings, and on-site promotional events in the Seoul metropolitan area.
For 2026, Jeollanam-do has set the direction for the Hometown Love Donation Program as a "donor-centered participatory system," and plans to implement customized strategies aligned with policy changes, transparent fund management, and strengthened promotional efforts.
The province will continue to discover unique, high-quality return gifts exclusive to Jeollanam-do, and aims to enhance donor choice and satisfaction through the advancement of its management system and improvement of product quality. Currently, Jeollanam-do offers the largest selection nationwide, operating 209 locations and 334 types of return gifts.
Kang Kyungmoon, head of the Hometown Love Department, said, "Thanks to the interest and participation of residents, Jeollanam-do natives nationwide, and donors, we have achieved the top spot for three consecutive years," adding, "We will manage the donations transparently and responsibly so that they are used to improve residents' quality of life, such as for community welfare, youth support, and cultural revitalization."
Starting in 2025, the tax deduction rate for donations between 100,000 won and 200,000 won under the Hometown Love Donation Program will be raised to 44%. For a donation of 200,000 won, donors will receive a tax deduction of 144,000 won and can also receive return gifts worth up to 60,000 won.
