Approximately 50 participants, including university officials and representatives from participating organizations involved in the project, attended the performance report meeting. They shared the operational achievements of the Digital Sprout Project carried out over the past year and discussed future directions for its development.

The Digital Sprout Project is a nationwide initiative led by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, aiming to strengthen digital capabilities by providing software and artificial intelligence experience opportunities to elementary, middle, and high school students. In the Busan region, Pusan National University, National Pukyong University, and Dong-A University are participating to offer regionally customized digital education programs.

Among these, National Pukyong University, as the lead institution for the Gyeongsang region, received a total project budget of 1.2 billion won this year and operated advanced digital education programs for approximately 4,500 students. The curriculum focused on hands-on education tailored to the characteristics and environment of the region, especially targeting digitally underserved areas and groups such as those in the coastal Gyeongsang, Honam, and Jeju regions.

The performance report meeting included presentations of achievements by each university, followed by an awards ceremony for outstanding instructors and projects. Based on this year’s achievements, discussions continued on inter-university cooperation plans and operational strategies for next year’s project implementation.

Noh Maengseok, Director of the Digital Sprout Project Group at National Pukyong University and Professor of Big Data Convergence, stated, "Through the Digital Sprout Project, we will continue our efforts to establish the university as a core platform institution leading digital and AI education for local elementary, middle, and high school students."
