Exhibition of Contemporary Korean Paintings by Daejeon-Born Young Artist Kim Hyunjin
Depicting the Image of a Horse with the Themes of "Movement," "Leap," and "Progress"
Hanbat Library in Daejeon will hold the exhibition "Running Like a Horse 2026" at the main building's first-floor gallery from January 3 to January 25.
This exhibition, marking the Year of the Red Horse (Byeongo Year), will showcase works by Daejeon-born young artist Kim Hyunjin, who uses the themes of "movement," "leap," and "progress" to depict the image of a horse through contemporary Korean painting techniques. Through these works, the artist aims to deliver messages of courage, hope, change, and growth to citizens.
The exhibited works are completed using traditional Korean painting materials such as hanji (Korean paper), ink, and bunchae (powdered pigments), but combine modern compositions, colors, and lines. This approach presents new possibilities for visual art where tradition and modernity are harmoniously blended.
Lee Giyoung, Director of Hanbat Library, stated, "This will be an opportunity to introduce the creative world of a young artist from Daejeon to the public and to support the growth of local artists," adding, "Hanbat Library will continue to fulfill its role as a complex cultural space where citizens can enjoy and communicate through art, going beyond simply providing materials."
