Yeongam County in South Jeolla Province has proven the excellence of its welfare administration by winning two Minister of Health and Welfare Awards in an evaluation organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
On December 29, the county received the Grand Prize (Minister of Health and Welfare Award) in the Post-Management Field of Social Security Benefits at the "2025 Regional Welfare Project Evaluation" hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. In addition, Yeongam County also received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award in the Personal Information Protection category in the "2025 Social Security Information System Establishment and Operation" evaluation.
This evaluation is a system that discovers outstanding cases of welfare administration and selects local governments that have contributed to the development of regional welfare, targeting 17 metropolitan cities and provinces and 229 cities, counties, and districts nationwide. Yeongam County drew nationwide attention by winning awards in two categories simultaneously.
In the regional welfare project evaluation, the county received high marks for its post-management system and appropriate payment of social security benefits, including the timely processing of integrated household information, the appropriateness of processing change notifications within 30 days, and the handling of changes due to dissolution of family relationships within the required period.
In the field of social security information system establishment and operation, the county was recognized for its thorough management and protection efforts, such as ensuring that all public officials using the system completed personal information protection training.
Ha Hyesung, Head of the Resident Welfare Division of Yeongam County, stated, "Winning in these two categories is the result of public officials working in the field to realize welfare that truly changes the lives of Yeongam residents. We will continue to strengthen welfare administration to ensure basic living security and eliminate welfare blind spots for our residents."
The county plans to use this achievement as an opportunity to further enhance its regionally tailored welfare policies and focus its administrative capabilities on providing welfare services that residents can truly feel.
