Wando County was selected as the top local government in recognition of its systematic project management, high resident participation rate, and stable budget execution.
The "National Mind Investment Support Project" aims to care for residents' mental health, prevent suicide, and detect mental illnesses early by providing professional psychological counseling services (vouchers) to residents experiencing emotional difficulties such as depression and anxiety.
To improve access to mental health counseling for residents, Wando County has continuously expanded the number of counseling service providers and has supported residents experiencing emotional difficulties with up to eight professional psychological counseling sessions and up to 640,000 won in counseling fees.
Han Kwangil, Director of the Public Health Center, said, "Being selected as the top local government for two consecutive years is the result of the active participation and efforts of our residents and frontline workers," adding, "We will continue to do our best to help residents recover their mental health through professional psychological counseling services."
Residents who wish to use psychological counseling services can apply in person at their local town or township office or online through the Bokjiro website.
