From Next Year, Government Ministries to Broadcast Policy Events Live... Presidential Office: "All Issues of Public Interest to Be Streamed" Yonhap News

Starting next year, policy events will be broadcast live from 47 government ministries. This is the first time in the history of the Korean government that such an initiative is being implemented.

Lee Guyoun, Senior Secretary for Public Communication at the Presidential Office, announced at a press briefing at Chunchugwan on December 31 that "from January next year, live policy broadcasts will be expanded to include not only the Presidential Office but all 47 ministries." He added, "All policy-related events and issues of public interest conducted by the Prime Minister or each ministry will be broadcast live."

This marks the first time that government ministries will provide live policy broadcasts. The broadcasts will be arranged by each ministry applying to KTV, depending on the scale and nature of the event. KTV will be responsible for filming, broadcasting, transmission, and providing video footage. The live broadcast footage will be made available to all citizens, including the media.

Lee explained, "In addition to symbolic national events, a wide range of policy issues will be promptly communicated to the public through live broadcasts," and added, "Through this expansion of live policy broadcasts, we expect to further strengthen transparency in state affairs and increase public trust in government policies."

He also emphasized, "We will boldly put into practice the President's philosophy that greater openness leads to greater transparency in state affairs, and realize an open government and a government of live broadcasts."
