Heejo Park, Mayor of Dong-gu District, Daejeon, stated in his 2026 New Year’s address, "At the time of my inauguration, I promised the residents that I would create a newer and stronger Dong-gu through bold change and innovation. The past three and a half years have been dedicated solely to serving our residents, and now we are seeing tangible changes throughout the district."

He continued, "We are establishing stable residential conditions that connect housing, care, and safety; the city’s functions and vitality are being restored; and the foundation for Dong-gu’s future is being laid step by step through culture and education. The 8th popularly elected administration has laid the groundwork for a renaissance and has been a period of transformation leading us into the future."

Mayor Park emphasized, "Now, building on our achievements so far, we are ready to take an even greater leap forward. Based on the results we have achieved in housing, urban development, culture, and education, we will further strengthen Dong-gu’s future value."

He set the direction for Dong-gu’s administration in 2026 with the keyword ‘L. I. K. E. Dong-gu’: ▲ L (Living), further solidifying a stable residential foundation where people can stay and live their lives; ▲ I (Innovation), reorganizing the city’s structure and establishing a foundation for future growth; ▲ K (K-culture), enhancing the appeal of a healthy city where people can enjoy culture and tourism in their daily lives; and ▲ E (Education), strengthening Dong-gu’s future competitiveness through education that fosters collective growth.

Mayor Park stressed, "In the Year of Byeong-o, I, together with over 1,000 public officials, will trust in the direction Dong-gu has chosen, prove ‘L. I. K. E. Dong-gu’ through results, and respond with changes that residents can feel in their everyday lives."
