Buan County in North Jeolla Province will expand the age eligibility for its senior citizen bath fee support program, which utilizes the Hometown Love Fund, from 75 years and older to 70 years and older starting next year.

According to the county on December 31, the program targets seniors aged 70 and above who reside in towns or townships without small public bathhouses (Buan-eup, Jusan-myeon, Haengan-myeon, Byeonsan-myeon, and Baeksan-myeon). Seniors who are residents of social welfare facilities, long-term care facilities, or those already receiving bathing services such as home-visit baths are excluded from the program.

With this expansion, the number of eligible seniors is expected to increase by approximately 1,700, allowing more elderly residents to benefit. The support will be provided by charging 50,000 won per year onto the Buan Love Gift Certificate Card. For seniors who become eligible for the first time due to moving into the area or reaching the qualifying age, support will begin from the following quarter after the qualifying event occurs.

The program is scheduled to operate until mid-December next year. Applications can be submitted at the administrative welfare center of the applicant’s town or township of residence, and the bath fee support can be used at participating establishments (Health Nara, Saemangeum Sauna, Tourist Hotel Sauna, and Byeonsan Sea Salt Spa).

A county official stated, "As more seniors will now be able to receive support, we will continue to make every effort to help ensure a comfortable and healthy life in old age."
