Gumi City Concludes 'On (Warm) Day in Our Neighborhood' Citizen Communication Initiative

On December 29, Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province concluded its fourth year of the 'Gumi Mayor's On (Warm) Day in Our Neighborhood' initiative under the eighth popularly elected administration, having completed on-site communication visits to all 25 towns and districts with final stops in Dogae-myeon and Gwangpyeong-dong.

This series of on-site communication sessions, held from March to December, involved the mayor visiting locations where citizens live, explaining the direction of municipal administration, and discussing local issues together. Through these efforts, the value of communication embodied by 'On (Warm) Day,' which connects citizens and administration with warm energy, was captured directly in the field.

The dialogues accumulated with citizens throughout the year have become an important starting point for preparing municipal administration in the coming year.

At each town and district, heads of local institutions, leaders of community organizations, village and neighborhood chiefs, and local residents participated to share opinions on issues closely related to residents' daily lives.

In particular, rather than merely collecting formal feedback, the focus was on engaging in open exchanges with residents to directly confirm the unique characteristics and practical needs of each area, and to seek solutions together, going beyond simply listening.

A total of 250 suggestions were collected through these on-site communication sessions, covering a wide range of issues directly impacting citizens’ daily lives, including improvements to transportation and urban infrastructure, maintenance of residential and living environments, expansion of cultural and sports facilities, enhancement of welfare and settlement conditions, and revitalization of the local economy.

The city plans to carefully review the collected suggestions by department, establish action plans, and inform the relevant towns and districts, ensuring that communication with citizens leads to tangible policy outcomes through ongoing management.

Kim Jangho, Mayor of Gumi City, stated, "The voice of each and every resident determines the direction of Gumi. We will promptly review the issues raised at the city level and closely coordinate with relevant agencies."

Based on the diverse opinions gathered through these on-site communication sessions, Gumi City plans to implement customized policies tailored to local characteristics and to continue citizen-driven municipal administration steadfastly in the new year.
