LG Uplus announced that the accumulated amount of social contribution funds raised by its executives has surpassed 350 million won. This fund, which has continued for nine years since 2017, is an executive-participation sharing initiative in which all executives at the level of managing director and above contribute a fixed amount from their monthly salaries.
The total number of participants to date has reached approximately 600. This year, 68 executives, including CEO Hong Beomsik, participated and raised about 40 million won.
The donations collected by the executives have been used to build "Hope Houses" to improve the living and facility environments for vulnerable housing groups. By last year, a total of 17 Hope Houses had been completed.
This year’s funds were used for the "119 Memorial Day" event, held in collaboration with the National Fire Agency to honor fallen firefighters. The "119 Memorial Day," held last November at the Urban Festival Square in Sejong Central Park, was a memorial running festival to remember and express gratitude for the dedication and sacrifice of firefighters. About 2,300 people participated, making the event a great success.
In addition to the executive donation activities, LG Uplus has steadily continued a variety of sharing initiatives, including "Love for 1,000 Won" through employee salary deductions, the "Do Dream Magic Account" to support asset building for middle school students from low-income families with disabilities, regular volunteer activities at child protection facilities with direct participation from management, and the "Hope Library" project, which establishes ICT libraries at schools for the visually impaired nationwide using proceeds from employee auctions.
An LG Uplus representative stated, "Through sharing activities in which employees directly participate, positive energy is spreading throughout the organization," and added, "Going forward, all employees will continue to contribute to creating a brighter world by spreading the culture of sharing, focusing on customer-centric strategies, and building differentiated competitiveness."
