Putin Sends New Year Greetings to Xi Jinping, Kim Jong-un, and Trump

The Kremlin announced on December 30 (local time) that Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent New Year greetings to several world leaders, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong-un, and former U.S. President Donald Trump.

The list of recipients of President Putin's New Year messages, published on the Kremlin's website, also includes Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pope Leo XIV, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.


Leaders from Central Asian and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, as well as Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Hungary's pro-Russian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico, and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic also received greetings.


Additionally, New Year messages were sent to the leaders of Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, and other countries that have continued to develop relations with Russia despite its confrontation with the West over the war in Ukraine. Previously, North Korea announced through the Korean Central News Agency on December 25 that President Putin had sent a message to Chairman Kim on December 18, proposing to "further strengthen the friendly and allied relations in every way." Chairman Kim also sent a New Year message to President Putin on December 27.
