Goseong County Cuts Public Property Lease Fees by Up to 80%... Easing Rent Burden for Small Businesses

Support Provided to 60 Businesses
Totaling 81 Million KRW in Relief

Goseong County in Gangwon Province has provided substantial support to small business owners and SMEs facing difficulties due to the economic downturn by reducing and reimbursing up to 80% of the 2025 public property lease fees for properties under lease or usage permits for business operations.

A total of 60 businesses benefited from this support, with the total amount reaching 81 million KRW, significantly easing the burden on small business owners.

For 30 parcels of county-owned land among the public properties, the existing lease rate was reduced from 5% to 1%, an 80% reduction. For 36 locations such as traditional market stores and restaurants, the rental fee was reduced from 2% to 1%, a 50% reduction, and the difference was reimbursed.

This measure is being implemented temporarily for one year in 2025, following the amendment of the 'Enforcement Decree of the Public Property Act' in September 2025 and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's announcement regarding the period for easing the burden of public property use for small business owners. The reduction applies to usage and lease fees for commercial and business facilities, excluding agricultural and residential use. Notices were sent to eligible recipients in October, and applications were accepted and reviewed in November to select the beneficiaries.

Goseong County expects this measure to generate approximately 100 million KRW in economic support.

The Goseong County Governor stated, "By significantly easing the burden of public property lease fees for small business owners struggling during the economic downturn, we are reducing the burden on residents and expect this measure to have an economic support effect in the region. We will continue to develop practical support measures that residents can truly feel."
