Highlighting the Value of Sustainable Fashion
Park Gyurim, a senior, and Ko Heehyun, a junior, majoring in Craft Design at the Department of Design and Formative Arts at Dong-Eui University, won the Gold Prize at the "3rd Digital Textile Printing Competition for Tomorrow," co-hosted by Epson Korea and the Korea Fashion Business Association on December 19.

Since 2023, Epson Korea and the Korea Fashion Business Association have held this annual competition to foster future talent for the eco-friendly fashion industry, highlight the value of sustainable fashion, and promote the growth of K-fashion. The third competition was held under the theme "Details for tomorrow with U - Digital Textile Printing for Tomorrow."
For the judging and awards, 25 teams in the clothing category and 30 teams in the accessory category, who passed the preliminary round, presented their works on site. Experts evaluated the entries based on criteria such as commercialization potential, creative identity, and sustainability.
The team from the Department of Design and Formative Arts at Dong-Eui University presented a bucket bag made using vegan leather and eco-friendly cotton textiles, embodying the competition's purpose of sustainability and eco-friendly fashion values. Recognized for its high level of completion and practicality, the team won the Gold Prize in the accessory category and received a prize of 1.5 million won.
Professor Kim Jongok, the academic advisor, said, "The choice of sustainable materials and the high-quality design received great praise from the judges," and added, "We will continue to expand the scope of industry-academia cooperation by connecting design product development education that reflects ESG perspectives with companies."
