On December 30, KT CEO Kim Youngsub said, "I sincerely apologize for the great inconvenience and concern caused to our customers," and added, "Please watch as KT transforms going forward."
On this day, CEO Kim held a press briefing at KT's Gwanghwamun headquarters in Jongno-gu, bowing his head in apology for a series of incidents including unauthorized small payments and personal information leaks.
CEO Kim began by saying, "I stand here with a sense of reflection and responsibility regarding the security breach that caused great anxiety and concern for our customers."
He continued, "Yesterday, the final results of the joint government-private investigation into the small payment damages and security breach were announced," and added, "KT takes the findings of the joint investigation team very seriously."
He went on to say, "We promise not only to innovate the problematic information security system, but also to compensate and address each and every customer inconvenience and concern with a spirit of apology and reflection."
CEO Kim stated, "We will explain KT's plans to be reborn with the highest priority on customer information protection, which is a matter of the company's very survival, as well as our sincere and determined customer compensation plan."
