This awards ceremony was organized as part of the 'Regional-Linked Cultural Content Development Project,' which the RISE Project Promotion Team at Dong-A University is carrying out in collaboration with the Suyeong-gu District Office in Busan.

The event aimed to share the achievements of the winter season light festival, the '2nd Millak Luce Festa' project, which seeks to revitalize Millak Riverside Park in Suyeong-gu, and to discover outstanding ideas that can be applied to local festivals.

Supported by the RISE Project Promotion Team, the Department of Industrial Design at Dong-A University proposed a variety of cultural content plans for the Millak Luce Festa through the 'Communication Design' course (supervised by Professor Kim Jaehong). These plans included storytelling, character design, lighting content, and applications. Third-year students majoring in Visual Media Design within the Department of Industrial Design participated in this course, resulting in a total of eight team projects.

The students shared their project results at an on-campus presentation in June. After a review process by the Suyeong-gu District Office, the awards ceremony for outstanding works was recently held at the district office.

As a result of the evaluation, the Grand Prize was awarded to Team 1 (Kim Jinhwi, Kwon Hyunhee, Kim Chaeyoon, Jeong Jaeyeon, Jeong Jaehyun). The Excellence Awards were given to Team 5 (Lee Nayoung, Kim Seorin, Kwon Bohui, Park Sojung, Lim Seohyun, Heo Yerim) and Team 8 (Jung Suhyeon, Kang Minji, Kim Jaeseong, Kim Chaehyun, Noh Heeryeon, Park Jieun), respectively.

Kim Jinhwi, the leader of the Grand Prize-winning Team 1, said, "Through this practical project based on the theme of a local festival, I was able to experience the entire process from planning to production. It was rewarding to apply what I learned in theory to the actual field and to know that our ideas could be utilized in a local festival."

Professor Kim Jaehong commented, "This is a meaningful case in which the university and the local community collaborated, centered on the RISE Project Promotion Team, to connect a course-based project to an actual local festival. It created a mutually beneficial structure where students could develop practical skills, and the region could secure new cultural content."

Kim Woosaeng, Deputy Director of the RISE Project Promotion Team at Dong-A University, stated, "This project is a representative example of the RISE Project, which linked local needs with university education to produce tangible results. We will continue to expand cooperation with local governments to implement programs that simultaneously address regional issues and foster talent."

The '2nd Millak Luce Festa' will be held at Millak Riverside Park in Suyeong-gu, Busan, until January 31 next year.
