Jangwoo Lee, Mayor of Daejeon, emphasized in his New Year's address that he is determined to achieve the integration of Daejeon and Chungnam, transforming the region into a special metropolitan city comparable to Seoul.

He stated, "This year will be the year when Daejeon emerges as the central city of Korea and the leading city of the Chungcheong region," adding, "Together with our citizens, we will complete Daejeon as a world-class economic city leading the future, and Chungcheong as the new central region of Korea."

Mayor Lee especially pledged, "In unity with our citizens, we will write a new chapter of great prosperity for Chungcheong, going beyond Daejeon," and continued, "Daejeon will take the lead in opening a new era for national balanced development and the prosperity of Chungcheong."

He outlined six key tasks for the new year: Daejeon taking the lead as a model for national balanced development; fostering advanced strategic industries and listed companies at the forefront of the era; implementing inclusive policies that leave no citizen behind; developing a cultural and artistic city that becomes a top tourist destination; transforming Daejeon into a sustainable, eco-friendly city where life thrives; and creating new growth momentum through the redevelopment of the old downtown, including the Daejeon Station area.

Finally, Mayor Lee reaffirmed his determination for the new year, saying, "A better future than today is granted only to those who prepare and act," and added, "With the mindset of 'never retreat, always advance,' I will not give up even in difficult circumstances, and will move forward with unwavering focus toward our ambitious goals."
