Veterans Allowance, Honorary Allowance for War Veterans, and Allowance for Surviving Spouses of War Veterans
Hwasun County in South Jeolla Province will increase veterans-related allowances by 20,000 won per month starting in January next year, further strengthening its recognition and support for national veterans and their families.
According to the county on December 30, the allowances subject to this increase are the Veterans Allowance, the Distinguished Service Veterans Honor Allowance, and the Allowance for Surviving Spouses of Distinguished Service Veterans. Each will be raised by 20,000 won per month.
As a result, the Veterans Allowance will be increased from the current 70,000 won to 90,000 won per month, the Distinguished Service Veterans Honor Allowance from 100,000 won to 120,000 won per month, and the Allowance for Surviving Spouses of Distinguished Service Veterans from 50,000 won to 70,000 won per month.
This increase reflects respect and gratitude for those who have sacrificed and dedicated themselves to the nation, and it is expected to provide meaningful support for the stability and welfare of veterans' families.
Governor Koo Bokgyu stated, "Honoring those who have sacrificed and dedicated themselves to the nation is a fundamental duty of our county," and added, "We will continue to expand various support policies to improve the quality of life for veterans' families."
Meanwhile, the county is also implementing a range of other support initiatives, including condolence payments for the families of deceased distinguished service veterans, visits to national veterans, and support for the operation of veterans' organizations, all aimed at strengthening recognition and improving the quality of life for veterans' families.
