Busan Port Authority (President Song Sangkeun) held a year-end performance sharing meeting with the resident companies of the maritime port startup support platform ‘1876 Busan’.
The event, held on December 29 at the Busan Port International Exhibition & Convention Center (BPEX), was conducted in two parts to share the major achievements in technology development for 2025 and to discuss plans for business expansion in the coming year.
During the first part of the event, held in the morning, the following activities took place: sharing progress on company-specific suggestions raised at the communication meeting in September; an introduction to startup policies by the Korea Startup Forum; presentations on major achievements by the resident companies of 1876; and a discussion on current issues with Song Sangkeun, President of Busan Port Authority.
In the afternoon, the second part of the event included a meeting with collaborative organizations in the Busan region. Through introductions to the 2026 Regional Innovation Cluster R&D Support Project by Busan Technopark and the Startup Innovation Growth Support Project by Busan Economic Promotion Agency, discussions were held on business expansion and innovative growth for resident companies.
Additionally, the event featured an introduction to the ‘Public-Private Joint Development Research Project’ led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, which supports the innovative growth of small and medium-sized enterprises and startups through joint investment with Busan Port Authority. Busan Port Authority also plans to provide tailored technical guidance and planning research for technology development to participating companies through one-on-one technical consultations in the future.
Song Sangkeun, President of Busan Port Authority, stated, “We will systematically support startups at Busan Port so that they can freely develop and expand innovative technologies on-site,” adding, “We will further strengthen collaboration with local governments and related organizations in the Busan area so that the ‘1876 Busan’ platform can be further expanded as a growth model for technological innovation in the port sector.”
