Recognized for Contributions to the Development of Goyang City's Exhibition Industry

Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced on December 30 that it had presented a plaque of appreciation to Lee Jaeyul, CEO of Kintex Co., Ltd., whose term ends on the 31st, in recognition of his contributions to the development of Goyang City and the exhibition industry in South Korea during his tenure.

CEO Lee Jaeyul led Kintex from December 2022 to December 2025, achieving record-breaking financial results for three consecutive years, with a total net profit of over 61 billion won, thereby establishing a stable foundation for profitable management.

In addition, he spearheaded the groundbreaking of the third Kintex exhibition hall and launched projects to construct an anchor hotel and a multi-purpose parking building using internal funds, thereby establishing core MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) infrastructure to attract international conferences and exhibitions.

Furthermore, building on the successful operation of the exhibition center in India, he secured the operating rights for an exhibition center in Malaysia, establishing a practical platform to support the overseas expansion of domestic small and medium-sized enterprises. Through the operation of overseas exhibition centers, he expanded global sales and strengthened international networks, laying the groundwork for Goyang City to become a true MICE hub city.

Notably, in September, Kintex became the first exhibition and convention organization, as well as the first Gyeonggi Province-funded institution, to receive the Presidential Citation for Outstanding Contributions to the Development of Local Public Institutions. This achievement is recognized as a meaningful milestone, as it represents official acknowledgment from the central government of Kintex's enhanced competitiveness as a public institution and its success in expanding overseas.

Mayor Lee Donghwan stated, "During his tenure as CEO, he set a clear direction for Kintex and led the company strategically to achieve these results. I hope he will continue to serve as a strong advisor and partner as Goyang City grows into a global MICE hub city."

CEO Lee Jaeyul responded, "Major achievements such as the groundbreaking of the third Kintex exhibition hall, the anchor hotel, and the parking building would not have been possible without the active support of Goyang City. I am grateful to have been able to accomplish essential tasks for Goyang City during my tenure."

Meanwhile, CEO Lee Jaeyul's term ends on December 31, and the new CEO, Lee Minwoo, is scheduled to take office on January 1 next year.
