Scoville Heat Level 5,203 SHU

Shinsegae Food announced on December 30 that its No Brand Burger chain has launched two limited-edition “Ghost Pepper Burgers” for the winter season.

This new menu was developed in line with the consumer trend favoring strong and stimulating spicy flavors. It features ghost pepper (Bhut Jolokia), which is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s spiciest chili. By using ghost pepper sauce as the main ingredient, the burgers achieve an intense spiciness level of 5,203 SHU on the Scoville scale, making them the spiciest burger menu items among domestic franchise chains.

First, the “Ghost Pepper Salsa Double Burger” offers a rich texture with double patties, hash browns, cheese, dill pickles, lettuce, onions, and a variety of other toppings. The unique Ghost Pepper Salsa Sauce blend from No Brand Burger adds umami and tanginess, enhancing the overall spicy flavor. The “Ghost Pepper Salsa Chicken Burger” combines a crispy whole chicken breast patty with fresh vegetables and ghost pepper salsa sauce, further elevating the savory taste of the chicken. The “Ghost Pepper Salsa Double Burger” is priced at 7,500 won for the single item and 9,500 won for the set, while the “Ghost Pepper Salsa Chicken Burger” is 5,400 won for the single item and 7,400 won for the set.

A launch promotion is also underway. Until January 12, five customers who purchase the new menu and participate in the SNS review event will be selected to receive a “Ghost Pepper Completion Commemorative Gold Medal” (one don). Additionally, until January 10, customers who purchase a single new menu item via the No Brand Burger app will receive a free set upgrade, including fries and a drink.

No Brand Burger plans to continue its success with these new menu items. Previously, the two “Golden Katsu Burgers,” featuring crispy katsu patties and tonkatsu sauce, received a positive response and surpassed cumulative sales of 300,000 units within two months of their launch.

A Shinsegae Food representative stated, “We have introduced the spiciest ghost pepper burger among domestic burgers to match the spicy flavor trend,” adding, “We will continue to offer menus that provide differentiated experiences for our customers.”
