Six Departments Recognized for Excellence in Public Project Selection
Three Outstanding Departments and Public Officials to Receive Commendations
Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province achieved its best-ever results in competitive public project selection this year, with 72 projects being chosen and securing a total project budget of 175.8 billion won, including 116.4 billion won in national and provincial funds.
This accomplishment exceeded both of the county's 2024 goals: the selection of more than 50 public projects and the securing of over 100 billion won in national and provincial funding. It was made possible through the discovery of projects tailored to local characteristics and the establishment of close cooperative systems with central government ministries, South Gyeongsang Province, and related organizations.
As a result of the project selections, the urban, residential, and regional development sectors achieved the largest success, securing 76.4 billion won in national and provincial funds. In particular, large-scale projects such as the 'Yanggi and Eumgi District Flood Disaster Living Zone Comprehensive Maintenance Project (43.4 billion won)' and the 'Traditional Market District Urban Regeneration Project (25 billion won)' were selected in succession, thereby providing financial resources to improve the urban environment and enhance resident safety.
In the agricultural sector, projects such as the 'Smart Agriculture Development District Creation Project (20 billion won)' and the 'Smart Orchard Specialized Complex Creation Project (3.5 billion won)' were selected, establishing a foundation for smart agriculture to produce high-quality agricultural products. The county plans to lead the way in sustainable future agriculture going forward.
In addition, in the health and welfare sector, projects such as the 'Childcare Dream Center Construction Project' and the 'Public Health Institution Green Remodeling Project' were selected to expand the region's public healthcare infrastructure. In the culture and tourism sector, projects such as the 'Aged Tourist Site Regeneration Project' will accelerate the creation of differentiated tourism infrastructure.
County Governor Koo Inmo stated, "I would like to express my deep gratitude to the staff for their hard work in achieving these results in the face of difficult circumstances, such as government fiscal tightening and reduced tax revenue," adding, "Since national and provincial public projects are key to promoting large-scale projects for regional development, we will continue to actively discover and pursue such projects to ensure their selection in the future."
Meanwhile, the county plans to award bonuses to outstanding departments in the implementation of public projects in 2025 and present commendations to meritorious public officials.
