YouTuber Oliverssam: "No Decision to Move to Korea... Only Shared Our Situation in the U.S."

"Misunderstandings About Taking Advantage of Korea's Healthcare System"
"Harsh Comments Feel Especially Painful"

Oliverssam, a popular YouTuber with over 2.26 million subscribers, has drawn attention after sharing the difficulties of living in the United States. However, Oliverssam clarified that he has not decided to move to Korea.

On December 28, Oliverssam commented on his YouTube channel, saying, "Major media outlets have published articles claiming that we have decided to move to Korea," and emphasized, "We only shared our family's situation in Texas and discussed our concerns. We have not made any concrete decisions about our whereabouts, nor have we mentioned Korea."

He continued, "Because of these inaccurate articles, our family is receiving a lot of negative comments based on the misunderstanding that we intend to take advantage of Korea's healthcare system. We are already going through a very difficult time, so these harsh comments hurt even more. I ask for corrections to be issued."

Previously, on December 26, Oliverssam uploaded a video titled, "Eight Years as an Immigrant in the U.S. with My Korean Wife-Now I Really Give Up." In the video, he described various challenges he faced in the U.S., including financial difficulties, climate issues, and infrastructure problems. Oliverssam, an American, lived in Korea for eight years starting at age 22, before returning to Texas in 2018.

He said, "In Texas, summer temperatures exceed 40 degrees Celsius. Even two weeks before my child was born, there was a power shortage and everything stopped. Around 300 people died at that time. There will likely be another blackout next summer, and I don't think I can endure the 40-degree heat wave."

He also lamented, "We pay about 4 million won (approximately $3,000) a month for health insurance, but the service is poor. Here, if you get sick, you are treated like a disposable item." He added, "This is something we've been struggling with for two years. Due to rising prices, especially hospital issues, I've made up my mind. I think it's time to end this immigrant life."

Meanwhile, Oliverssam married his Korean wife in 2016, and they have two daughters. His YouTube channel features a variety of content, including American culture and daily life with his family.
