Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon described the historic achievement of surpassing 700 billion dollars in exports for the first time as a remarkable feat, stating that Gyeonggi Province will join in opening a new era of progress.
On the 29th, Governor Kim posted on his social networking service (SNS), "The 'first-ever breakthrough of 700 billion dollars in exports' is a dramatic comeback story written by South Korea in 2025 as the nation overcame the darkness of internal strife."
He continued, "This is a remarkable achievement, backed by the strong determination and capability of the Lee Jaemyung administration, including efforts to restore market confidence and the conclusion of tariff negotiations with the United States. Now, Gyeonggi Province will join in paving the way for a new leap forward for South Korea."
Earlier, at the end of December, South Korea surpassed an annual export volume of 700 billion dollars (with projections of about 704 billion dollars) for the first time in its history. This is a historic accomplishment, achieved nearly 60 years after reaching 100 million dollars in exports in 1964.
Globally, only a few countries-including the United States, China, Germany, Japan, and the Netherlands-have reached annual exports of 700 billion dollars.
