YouTuber Paul Faces British Boxer Joshua
Suffers KO Defeat and Injury, but Earns a Massive Purse
Total Payout Reaches an Astonishing 136 Billion KRW
A YouTuber who fought British professional boxer Anthony Joshua in a boxing match, suffered a KO defeat and serious injuries, has drawn attention by flaunting his enormous earnings.
On December 19 (local time), a match took place at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida, between YouTuber Paul, who has transitioned into boxing, and British boxer Joshua, a former heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist.
The match attracted significant attention, being broadcast live on the global streaming platform Netflix. However, the match itself was a one-sided defeat for Paul. He barely held on until the fifth round, but was knocked out just 1 minute and 31 seconds into the sixth round.
After the match, Paul posted on his social media, saying, "My jaw is broken. But my heart and courage are intact," and revealed an X-ray image. The photo shows his jaw fractured in two places, split into three pieces.
Although he lost the match, it has been reported that Paul made a massive profit from the event. According to reports from British sports media outlets such as TalkSport, the total revenue generated by the two fighters is estimated at 136 million pounds (approximately 263 billion won). Joshua is said to have received about half of the total purse, around 130 billion won.
Paul also subtly boasted about his earnings by posting a photo of his private jet. In the photo, bundles of dollar bills are scattered on the plane floor alongside several firearms. Paul wrote, "American Dream. Believe. Fail. Work. Learn. Never stop."
Meanwhile, Paul continues to earn enormous fight purses by competing against world-renowned boxing champions. He has turned his fame as a YouTuber into content by facing off against professional athletes. Previously, he has fought famous fighters such as Anderson Silva and Mike Tyson, both of whom have been inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.
