Osan City Secures 23.6 Billion Won for Standard Labor Costs... Eases Workforce Shortage

"Strengthening Administrative Capacity in Safety, Welfare, Transportation, and Future Sectors Expected"

Osan City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 29th that it has secured a total budget of 23.6 billion won over the past three years from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for standard labor costs.

The city secured 5.5 billion won for last year's standard labor costs, 4 billion won for this year, and 9 billion won for next year. Initially, the city expected a reduction of 6.8 billion won in next year's general allocation tax due to exceeding the standard labor costs for 2024. However, as the increase in administrative demand was reflected, the reduction was set at 1.7 billion won, resulting in a budget increase effect of 5.1 billion won, according to the city.

The city expects that securing the largest-ever funds related to standard labor costs will allow for a more stable restructuring of workforce operations, which had been limited amid rapid changes in the administrative environment.

The city added that, with the newly secured labor budget, it will be able to allocate administrative capacity more efficiently, particularly in areas where the scope of work has expanded due to increased demand.

The city plans to use the secured funds to gradually deploy personnel in key areas directly related to citizens' lives, such as eliminating blind spots in citizen safety and welfare, addressing transportation issues, and promoting mid- to long-term future strategic projects.

Lee Gwonjae, Mayor of Osan, stated, "Based on the secured funds, we will provide citizens with more stable and prompt administrative services and continue to improve the overall operating conditions of the organization."
