Gyeongsan City (Mayor Cho Hyunil) announced that the "2026 Byeong-o Year Gyeongsan Sunrise Event" will be held on January 1, 2026, at the outdoor stage of the Samseonghyeon History and Culture Park.
Hosted by the Gyeongsan Cultural Center (Director Lee Buhee), this event will kick off with a vibrant pungmulnori (traditional Korean percussion performance) and feature a variety of programs that capture both the hopes of citizens welcoming the Byeong-o New Year and the bright future of Gyeongsan.
Starting at 6:40 a.m. on the outdoor stage, there will be a large drum performance, a calligraphy performance capturing citizens' wishes, and a wish note raffle event.
In addition, various side programs will be available for citizens to participate in and enjoy, including rice cake soup and carrot headband giveaways, fortune capsule draws, and wish-writing experiences.
In particular, the wish note raffle event invites citizens to write down their New Year wishes and enter them into a drawing. On the morning of the event, winners will be selected and given commemorative gifts. This program carries symbolic meaning, as the collective hopes of citizens come together to shape the future of Gyeongsan.
Gyeongsan City stated that, as a large crowd is expected on the day of the event, thorough pre-event inspections and preventive measures will be implemented, and sufficient safety personnel will be deployed to ensure that all citizens can participate safely and enjoyably.
