Kyungpook National University Unveils 80th Anniversary Slogan and Emblem

Kyungpook National University (President Heo Youngwoo) announced on December 29 that it has unveiled its official commemorative slogan and emblem in celebration of the university’s 80th anniversary in 2026.

Kyungpook National University has finalized "The Grand Moment, KNU80" as the main slogan for its 80th anniversary.

This slogan delivers a grand and symbolic message, representing both the present and future of Kyungpook National University as it prepares to embrace great moments in a new era, building upon its 80-year history.

Additionally, the university has selected the following as sub-slogans: "You, founded on truth, will become the bellwether of the world," "The light of Cheomseong, from 80 years to 100 years," and "80 years of leading the times, KNU to lead the world."

These slogans were chosen through a commemorative slogan contest for the 80th anniversary of the university’s founding and symbolically embody Kyungpook National University's educational philosophy, the ideal of the Cheomseongin (the university’s model graduate), and the university’s vision.

The 80th anniversary emblem visualizes "Kyungpook National University advancing forward and leaping into the future."

The number "8" is depicted in a dynamic, interconnected form, symbolizing the university’s 80-year history of continuous growth and development. The number "0" is combined with a graphic element rising toward the light, visualizing a progressive image of moving into the future.

Kyungpook National University plans to use the main slogan and the 80th anniversary emblem in a wide range of online and offline promotional activities, including the official website, the 80th anniversary commemorative landing page, social media, video content, banners and placards on and off campus, and various promotional and printed materials.

Heo Youngwoo, President of Kyungpook National University, stated, "The commemorative slogan and emblem for the 80th anniversary reflect the university’s history and achievements over the past 80 years, as well as our direction and determination to move forward into the next 100 years. Through this, we aim to further strengthen the university’s identity and brand value, and we will make 2026 a turning point for Kyungpook National University to take a greater leap forward."
