Do Hee-rak, Director General of the Legal Affairs Bureau at the National Election Commission, will assume office as the new Secretary General of the Gyeongnam Election Commission on January 1, 2026.

The new Secretary General, Do, has previously served as Head of Interpretation and Director General of the Legal Affairs Bureau at the National Election Commission, as well as Head of Guidance, Head of Election, and Secretary General at the Busan Election Commission.

He stated, "We will faithfully manage the 9th nationwide local elections to be held in 2026 in accordance with the law and principles, ensure transparent disclosure throughout the election process, and expand voter participation so that the commission will earn the trust of the residents as a reliable election management institution."
