Secured 400 Million Won in National Funding
...Issuance Increased by Approximately 29 Billion Won Year-on-Year
Namwon City in North Jeolla Province has been selected as an "Outstanding Local Government for Issuing Local Love Gift Certificates" by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, securing 400 million won in national funding.
According to the city on December 29, this evaluation was conducted for 243 local governments nationwide. It comprehensively reflected both the city’s independent issuance efforts from January to April, before national funding support, and issuance performance from September to October, after the support was provided.
From the beginning of 2025, the city promptly and stably issued Namwon Love Gift Certificates, reaching a total issuance of 140 billion won-an increase of approximately 29 billion won compared to the previous year.
Additionally, since September 1, the discount rate for the gift certificates was raised to 15% to stimulate consumption. The city also expanded the number of Hanaro Mart locations in rural areas where the certificates can be used to 15, significantly improving convenience for rural residents.
Based on these achievements, Namwon City was selected for Group 1 in the evaluation and secured a special grant of 400 million won. Among cities in North Jeolla Province, Namwon was the only one included in Group 1.
Furthermore, to help revive the domestic economy, the city was recognized as an outstanding local government for its efforts in distributing livelihood recovery consumption coupons since July, including its performance in distribution, expansion of eligible locations, and improved convenience in application and payment. As a result, it secured an additional special grant of 150 million won.
In particular, the "On-Site Application Service" operated mainly in towns and townships received a highly positive response from citizens.
A city official stated, "Our efforts to ensure that citizens’ spending through local love gift certificates and livelihood recovery consumption coupons actually circulates within the region have led to these results. We will continue to pursue regional economic policies that citizens can truly feel, in line with the original goals of revitalizing the local economy and increasing sales for small businesses."
