Around 30 Adults and Middle and High School Students
Evaluation from February to December Next Year
On December 29, the city of Gwangyang, South Jeolla Province, announced that it will recruit members for the “City Bus Service Citizen Evaluation Group,” in which citizens directly participate to improve the quality of city bus services and enhance citizen satisfaction.
The citizen evaluation group will consist of around 30 adults and middle and high school students. From February to December 2026, the group will use and evaluate 30 routes operated by the local bus company, Gwangyang Transportation. The main evaluation criteria will include compliance with regulations, kindness, safety, and the appropriateness of route operations, covering all aspects of city bus services.
To ensure effective evaluation, the city plans to select group members primarily from citizens who frequently use public transportation. To encourage active participation, the city will provide reimbursement for activities. In addition, exemplary transportation workers will be selected and awarded based on the evaluation results.
Furthermore, the city will review and address deficiencies in public transportation services based on the suggestions made by the citizen evaluation group, and develop improvement measures. The evaluation results will also be shared with transportation companies and actively reflected in future public transportation policy-making and operational improvements.
The application period runs until January 15, 2026. Citizens wishing to participate can download the application form from the Gwangyang City website announcement section, complete it, and submit it in person to the Gwangyang City Transportation Division, or send it by fax or email.
A city official stated, “Through this participatory system, where citizens directly evaluate public transportation services and propose improvements, we aim to develop more effective transportation policies. We will thoroughly identify inconveniences from the citizens’ perspective and create a safe and convenient public transportation environment that citizens can use with confidence.”
